Steps
- Survey & plan: Wishes, condition, budget, materials, schedule, check structures, ventilation, insulation needs.
- Protection & demo: Protect areas, remove benches/panels/insulation, sort and remove waste.
- Prep & structures: Repair/add insulation to walls/ceiling, add vapor barrier, ensure vents work; waterproof if needed.
- Install: Panel walls/ceiling, build/replace benches with stainless fasteners, allow movement gaps.
- Floor: Level, waterproof, tile, set correct slopes to drain.
- Finish & handover: Trim, guards, mount lighting (licensed electrician), final clean, care guidance.
Materials
Sauna-suited woods: aspen, spruce, pine, alder; benches in thermo-aspen/alder. Moisture-safe fasteners/finishes; floors in waterproof surfaces (often ceramic tile) with proper waterproofing.
